Free-Tab: Giving instagrammers the freedom to choose how they see others' life stories
Overview
In this team project, I took the lead in the visual aspect, leveraging my design skills to communicate our ideas compellingly and effectively. Our team emphasized the power of storytelling to further amplify the impact of our key concepts. By seamlessly integrating these two elements, we crafted a presentation that not only captivated the audience visually but also left a lasting emotional impression.

The Problem
The creative community had strong negative feedback on the Instagram layout revision.
Recently, Instagram put their newly launched short video feature, Reels, which they placed in the middle of the bottom navigation, replacing the post button that had been used for over a decade. Our team conducted research to understand the reasoning behind this change and proposed a concept that would strike a balance between enhancing the user experience and aligning with business strategies. By doing so, we developed a concept that addressed the needs of both Instagram's users and the business objectives.
Our Goals
• Bring photo lovers closer to the people and things they love.
• Encourage photo creators to use Instagram as an outlet to express themselves.
• Give Instagrammers the freedom to choose how they see others' life stories.
The Solution
We're Putting The Post Button Back. But why?
Research from Steven Hoober found that 49% of people rely on one thumb to accomplish things on their phones. Even those who prefer to use a two-hand grip will be in a situation they can just use one hand or just one finger. So, as a designer, we should put thumbs in mind.
Almost all shutter buttons on the digital products are in the middle bottom of the screen.
Other popular creative communities both are anchored their plus button to the middle bottom of the app.
It’s vitally important to place top-level and frequently-used actions at the bottom of the screen. As a creative community, we should always put creating first to make it easy for Instagrammers to create magical moments to share.
